2010 San Diego Summer Nights Track & Field Series:   The San Diego-Imperial Association is sponsoring the San Diego Summer Nights Track & Field Series.   Each will be held on a Wednesday evening with an abreviated schedule consisting of hurdles, sprint, long sprint, mid-distance, distance running events plus shot put, long jump, and high jump.  For more information, contact the meet directors as listed in the schedule below.     Scoring/Awards Rules

San Diego Summer Nights Track & Field #2:   (from Steve Kleinstuber) Track is back in a big way!!  Wednesday night, 173 athletes participated in the 2nd of 3 Summer Nights Track and Field Meets.  San Diego Mesa College opened up their beautiful new facilities for an exciting evening of competition.  Highlights included 53-year-old, former NFL star James Loften blazing a fine time of 25.35 in the 200 meters, local stand out David Edwards running away in the one mile in 4:13.27, and young sprint star Brent Gray showing he is in top form winning the 200 meters in 21.17 seconds.

But for many who showed up for the meet, the highlight of the night was the enthusiastic crowd support for all the athletes, particularly the numerous young children who were competing in their first track and field meet.  Many youths were putting in their best effort including the youngest athlete, 5-year-old Sean Daft and his 7-year-old sister, Maya, who participated in the 200 meters.  Equally impressive was watching the performance of the oldest participant, 68-year-old, multi-event master's record holder Nadine O'Conner, who is preparing for the USATF National Masters Track and Field meet in Sacramento on July 22-25, where last year she won 6 events and placed second in 2 others.  See below for complete results.

The next event will be July 21st at Patrick Henry High School.  Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each event for the series.  This year's awards are relay batons with the Summer Night logo on them.
