San Diego Athletes Bound for Berlin: Twleve track and field athletes, residents of San Diego or the Olympic Training Center, will represent the US at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin on August 15-23. They are Sean Furey (Javelin), Tora Harris (HJ), Mike Hazle (Javelin), Jared Rome (Discus), Toby Stevenson (PV), Brad Walker (PV), Ian Waltz (Discus), Becky Breisch (Discus), Stacy Dragila (PV), Brianna Glenn (LJ), Sheena Tosta (400mH), and Anna Willard (1500m & Steeplechase).
Also in Berlin is San Diego USATF Men's Track & Field Chair, Tonie Campbell. Tonie is one of the event managers for Team USA, at a training camp in Berlin (Lichterfeld) from August 5th to 11th. Tonie is the training and warm-up track facilities manager. He write that it is "a lot of work but I love being part of helping young athletes reach their dreams and experience the joys that I once had."
2009 Association Championships: The San Diego-Imperial Open Track and Field Championships were held on a beautiful day at Point Loma Nazarene College on Sunday, June 14. Check below for results or go to Direct Athletics.
2008 Association Championships: The San Diego-Imperial Open Track and Field Championships were held in conjunction with the Southern California and Western Regional Championships at Occidental College on June 7. Meet director Skip Stolley reports that the meet had 603 entries, 10 new meet records, and 70 qualifying performances for the Olympic Trials.
